LIA announces that Rob Galluzzo, Founder of FINCH, will preside over the Production & Post-Production and Music Video jury.

Galuzzo began his career agency side at Y&R, first as the mailroom boy, and eventually as Head of TV, before moving to become Managing Director at @radical.media, Sydney. He founded FINCH in 2011.

“Great work always exists in the tension between art and commerce,” stated Galluzzo. “Film craft is no different. There is a wonderful purity of process when it comes to judging LIA. I’m looking forward to leading a jury that recognizes and rewards craft at a show with such integrity.”

“We are honored to have Rob preside over the Production & Post-Production and Music Video jury,” stated Barbara Levy, President of LIA. “His commitment to innovation and the desire to impact culture, makes him the perfect choice to guide this jury in awarding the most outstanding work at LIA 2018.”

LIA separates Production and Post-Production from the TV/Cinema/Online Film jury for the simple reason that this jury focuses on the craft of communication. Production and Post-Production houses should not be reliant on the advertising agencies to enter their film as there may be special skills used in the making of a film that needs to be acknowledged and celebrated.

“Agencies come up with the concept but Production and Post-Production houses are such pivotal partners in making a good idea come alive in very special and unexpected ways,” elaborated Barbary Levy. “That’s why LIA believes that aside from agencies entering the work, Production and Post-Production houses should really look at their body of work and determine for themselves which categories in production and post-production best showcases their film making magic. It’s about every aspect of film making, from directing, cinematography, editing, CG, animation to music and sound design”.

“Who better to determine what is good than the people directly involved in the making of it? Advertising agencies will send in their entries. But Production and Post-Production companies should stand up and let their work be counted by the best people in their field of work as well. That’s why we get the world’s most celebrated Production and Post-Production names to sit in our jury room,” Levy further added.

“Since we have added the Regional of the Year Awards, it is even more important for Production and Post-Production companies to enter their work personally and get their due recognition.”
